Bitty, Inc. ("Bitty", "we") is a California corporation. Bitty makes personal mail and file servers ("devices") that you own, and runs the internet services that let your device be reached from anywhere (the relay, DNS, outgoing mail, cloud backup storage and the account portal).
Your mail, files, photos, calendars and documents live on your own device, not on our servers. We do not sell your information, we do not show you ads, and we do not use your data to train AI models. We collect only what we need to run the service and bill for it.
Account information: your name, email address, and the password you choose (stored only as a one-way hash). Device information: the devices registered to your account and their names, domains and status. Usage and billing records: how much relay traffic, backup storage, mail and AI usage your account uses, so we can bill for it, and your credit balance and purchase history. Server logs: our servers record connection details such as IP addresses and times, for security and troubleshooting. Support messages you send us.
Mail and files passing through our relay are passed to your device without being stored on our servers. Your device's cloud backups are encrypted on your device with a key only you hold before they are uploaded; we cannot read them. When your device uses cloud AI inference through Bitty, requests are sent to the model provider with logging turned off and the conversation history stays on your device.
Card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to us; we receive only a payment confirmation, the amount, and the last digits and expiry of the card for your records.
If you give us a mobile phone number for alerts, we use it only to send the service and security alerts you asked for. We do not share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Message frequency varies with the events being reported. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving messages, or HELP for help. See the SMS section of our Terms of Service.
We share information only with the service providers we need to run Bitty, and only what each one needs: Stripe (payments), Amazon Web Services (backup storage, notifications, and AI inference), Vultr (the servers our services run on), and Brave Search (web searches your device's assistant makes on your behalf). We may disclose information when required by law; where the law allows, we will tell you first. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Account, device and billing records are kept while your account is open and for as long afterwards as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and then deleted. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
You can see and update your account details in the portal. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or opt out of SMS alerts at any time. California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA; we extend them to everyone. We will not treat you differently for exercising them.
We use encryption in transit, encrypted backups, restricted server access, and least-privilege access to our cloud accounts. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information we will tell you promptly.
Bitty is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If we change this policy we will update the date below, and tell you through the portal or by email before significant changes take effect.
